MINSK - Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko on Tuesday confirmed the dismissal of long time ally Viktor Sheiman from his post in charge of the national security council, his spokesman said.
Lukashenko signed the dismissal after announcing Sheiman's sacking at a meeting on Monday to discuss progress in investigating a bomb attack that left dozens injured last Friday, presidential spokesman Pavel Lyogky told AFP.
The Belarussian leader also dismissed the head of the presidential administration, Gennady Navyglas, the spokesman said.
Both the dismissed men had been strongly criticised by the president for failings exposed by last week's bomb attack, which took place during an outdoor concert marking Independence Day in the ex-Soviet state.
