MINSK, July 29 (RIA Novosti) - More than 700 international observers are expected to monitor the September 28 parliamentary elections in Belarus, the country's top election official Lidiya Yermoshina said Tuesday.
The country's Foreign Ministry has already sent a total of 18 invitations to the election monitoring arms of the CIS and OSCE, as well as to the central election commissions of all CIS member states and Lithuania and Latvia.
Though the observers are scheduled to begin their work on August 10, the Belarusian central election commission has already begun accrediting observers.
The country's 2006 presidential elections were monitored by 1,235 foreign observers.
