Only 4 percent of grain areas remain unharvested in Belarus as of the date, informed Tamara Fomichova, a top official from Belarus' farm ministry, cited by governmental news agency BelTA. The harvest is to be completed next week.
Fomichova said as of the same date last year the harvest was done on 94 percent of areas.
Total collection of grains stands now at 6.24 million tonnes. Grain yield is averaging 3.19 tonnes per hectares.
Last year as of August 30 the farmers collected 6.6 million tonnes of grain at a yield of 3.31 tonne per hectare.
The news agency declines to provide detailed breakdown of grain collection into particular crops.
