PZU, Poland's state-controlled insurance company, is interested in two or three companies operating in Belarus, 'Parkiet' daily found out. PZU may acquire the largest Belarusian insurer - Treasury-owned Belgosstrakh.
Belarusian government is reported to be in progress of preparing privatization procedures concerning Belgosstrakh. However the date and price have not been revealed, the newspaper informs. 'Parkiet' found out from anonymous sources, that one of the scenarios envisages the establishment of a new company by PZU and Belgosstrakh.
Belgosstrakh has an over 50% share in Belarusian insurance market. It insures almost all large companies and hires over 6,000 people. There are over 20 other insurance companies in Belarus, 'Parkiet' notes.
