Belarus' Alexander Lukashenko is continuing his two-day visit to Lithuania in a rare appearance in a European Union and NATO member state as the authoritarian president tries mending ties with the West.
It is Lukashenko's first visit to the neighboring country in 11 years and comes at a time when Belarus is increasingly at loggerheads with Russia over energy and trade policies.
Protesters jeered the dictator Wednesday near the Lithuania presidential palace, where Lukashenko was scheduled to meet his Lithuanian counterpart.
Talks between the Belarusian president and Lithuanian officials are focusing on bilateral relations and trade.
