TEL-AVIV, October 31 (Itar-Tass) -- Heavy rains and a windstorm caused casualties in central Israel on Friday. A tourist from Belarus died in the resort city of Netanya. A team of rescuers recovered his body from water. Specialists in a local hospital did everything to save his life, but he did not survive. Another Belarussian man, his companion, is missing. The local rescue service resumed the search for him on Saturday morning, the Haaretz newspaper reported.
Some local residents are also missing. Many residential areas are flooded. Thousands of people are left without electricity. Scores are blocked in their homes and cars. The meteorological forecasts are not encouraging -- the weather may present another unpleasant surprise later in the day.
