Belarus' delegation to attend National Mourning Day in Germany

MOSCOW, Nov. 9 (Xinhuanet) -- Belarussian armed forces will sent a delegation to take part in the events marking National Mourning Day in Germany on November 10-13, the Belarussian Defense Ministry pronounced on Wednesday.

The Belarussian delegation, in particular, will attend a ceremony at which the remains of Soviet soldiers killed during World War II will be buried at a cemetery in Lebus in the federal state of Brandenburg, the Interfax news agency quoted a source of the ministry as saying.

The delegation will also attend a ceremonial meeting in which members of the German government, foreign embassies, and non-governmental organizations (NGO) will take part.

Germany has observed National Mourning Day since 1922 to commemorate the victims of all wars and other armed conflicts. War veterans and NGO members from Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine annually visit Germany on this day on the invitation of the German Popular Military Grave Care Union, the report said.
