The youth branch of the opposition group Belarussian National Front (BFN) has signed an understanding with the youth of Poland's ruling Civic Platform, according to the Belarusian portal Bielorusskije Nowosti.
The five-year long understanding was signed Sunday evening by the leader of BFN Youth and the Association of Young Democrats, Franek Wiaczorka and Dariusz Dolczewski.
The goal of the understanding is to elevate the status of the politically oppressed youth activists in Belarus. The groups will cooperate to coordinate education, cultural and information campaigns as well as to promote EuroAtlantic integration of Belarus and establish international contacts.
The cooperation calls for increased understanding between all groups in the region, including support from Poles.
The leader of the BFN, Franek Wiaczirkoa, expressed the hope that the youth groups' understanding will open doors for more cooperation amongst parties within Belarus and surrounding countries as well as spur democracy within the country.
