Putin confirms gov't loan to Belarus

RBC, 14.12.2007, Minsk 19:54:41.Moscow and Minsk have reached an agreement on providing the latter with a $1.5bn government loan in 2007-2008, Russian President Vladimir Putin told journalists in the Belarusian capital today, citing plans to sign an intergovernmental agreement to this effect. As reported by Belarus Finance Minister yesterday, $1bn is to be provided in 2007, and a further $0.5bn in 2008. The 15-year facility will be raised at an estimated interest rate of 0.75 percent over LIBOR with a 5-year grace period.
