On December 18, 2007, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Li Hui and visiting Deputy Belarusian Foreign Minister Viktor Gaisionok held consultation between the two Foreign Ministries in Beijing. Both sides exchanged in-depth views on bilateral ties, as well as international and regional issues of common concern.
During the meeting, Li spoke highly of the achievements made in China-Belarus relations since the two countries forged diplomatic ties 15 years ago. He said China attaches great importance to ties with Belarus and is ready to work with it to further implement various agreements reached between the leaders of the two countries, build up mutual understanding and trust and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation so as to push forward bilateral ties.
Gaisionok said Belarus takes its ties with China as one of the priorities of its foreign policy and firmly supports China's position on the Taiwan question. Belarus hopes to strengthen bilateral cooperation of mutual benefit in all areas, cement the material basis in bilateral ties and comprehensively enhance the level of bilateral relations and mutually beneficial cooperation, he added.
