Region: Lukashenko wants gas alternatives for Belarus
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has said he is optimistic about finding alternatives to Russian gas, news agency Interfax reported Dec. 7. Lukashenko told the All-Belarusian People's Congress that he "could not agree with raising prices twofold on New Year's Eve" as Russia had previously done, and said his country had a right to seek the best options for its own needs.
